USCIS has expanded its Information Services Modernization Program at many office branches and is moving towards discontinuing direct scheduling of appointments at USCIS offices (InfoPass), instead directing applicants to find information online.
This program requires applicants to call and speak with USCIS staff before scheduling an InfoPass appointment. To schedule an appointment, applicants must first contact USCIS customer service by phone and engage with a representative. If the issue is not resolved, the applicant will be transferred to a USCIS officer. If still unresolved, the applicant may then schedule an InfoPass appointment to visit the USCIS office.
USCIS states that most individuals who schedule appointments directly at the office receive the same information as those who contact by phone or visit the USCIS website. Information provided online will be more comprehensive and allows more time for staff to review immigration requests. USCIS intends to expand this program to offices in Newark and Great Lakes, with comprehensive implementation planned for all offices by September 30, 2019.
This program applies to USCIS offices in the following cities: Hartford, Connecticut; El Paso, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; Sacramento, California; San Francisco, California; Detroit, Michigan; and Los Angeles, California.
